Duránd F. Davis Jr.

Duránd F. Davis Jr., the Founder, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Labs Companies, Inc., is responsible for the company’s overall direction — its research agenda, its capital structure, and the 7 Frontier Labs through which it builds. He founded Labs, formerly LavLabs, as a frontier intelligences supercompany developing human-enhancement technologies, and remains its controlling shareholder.

At Labs he oversees the teams and initiatives that turn frontier research into products, platforms and ecosystems. He created the Yuhmmy App, an everything social-taste superapp, and founded the company that became its parent.

As a funder, he is Co-Funder, Managing General Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Family of Firms, M&D Ventures, Sivad VC, Davis&Davis Venture Partners, Madu Partners, DFD Venture Capital, Elz Ventures and Labs Investor Group. He began his private equity career at 17, investing in startups, entertainment properties and music studios across the Midwest — and with his wife Maya built Madu Fellows, SuperVC Academy, L2s and 2Ls to widen access to education, entrepreneurship and innovation.

Born in Chicago and raised in Detroit, Duránd is a Choctaw Aboriginal American of French ancestry, and the younger cousin of the musician Brad “Scarface” Jordan. He records and performs as DJ DEVO. The family’s financial, scientific and philanthropic work is anchored by the Sivad Estate Trust, SivadBank, the Sivad Wealth Investment Treasury, the Sivad Science Initiative and the Sivad Family Foundation.

Now living in Beverly Hills, he spends much of his time outside the company reading, researching and raising his nine children. He is committed to reducing the global burden of asthma — a condition he and several of his children were born with — which drives his interest in anti-aging, longevity and life-extension research. He and Maya advocate a healthy vegan lifestyle.
